WebAug 4, 2007 · Block number is correct (10243880) for a ZZ4 and a few other truck engines. Currently has a tunnel ram with dual Holley carbs, so the intake is gone. Block is painted Chevy orange and heads are unpainted (aluminum). Very clean with no apparent leaks. How can I verify this is actually a ZZ4 engine? It is a 5.7 LG with casting 10243880 and suffix is VD139R34. i have tried to decode it, but with no luck so far. Anyways, tonight when I looked closer at it, to my horror I noticed some pitting, or burrs at the top of at least half of the lifters bores.

It's about the roller equivalent of the 010 block, in other words, pretty decent as production blocks go. Your combination sounds well within that blocks capabilites.
